How is a girl to keep up with the hottest trends in celebrity handbags for the 2010 season? It depends, of course, on whether we are talking hot summer, spring or winter season. It also depends heavily on what the stars and celebs are carrying. Why? Because singers and celebrities know just what to carry and, depending on the season, occasion, and outfit, when to carry it.
A well-designed bag offers a strong brand identity and certainly a commercial coup for a designer label if it happens to be the popular choice of handbag of a celebrity. Whether it is Gucci or Prada, Fendi or Chloe, a popular handbag is the ultimate style statement for the famous and the fashionable. Balenciaga, Chanel, Louis Vuitton and D&G are some of the other popular choices of handbags that celebrities prefer.
The Marcie handbag is new to the Spring 2010 handbag collection and has already been spotted on the arms of many gorgeous starlets.

Celebrity handbags 2010: Nicole Richie with Hermes Birkin handbag
Nicole Richie prefers Hermes, and particularly the Hermes Birkin handbag. While not the signature orange Hermes is known for, this bag is a little darker in orange color but does still carry the typical Hermes hardware in gold and the same leather features. She said:
” I’m totally on board with the signature Hermes orange – unconventional, maybe, but vibrant and fresh. Start saving those pennies, girls.”
Don’t plan on rushing out and grabbing up these bags in various colors just yet, though. This Hermes handbags costs about $17,000.
Celebrity handbags 2010: Dakota Fanning with Alexander Wang Rocco Studded Duffle
2010 is certainly shaping up to be a great year for Dakota Fanning. Not only is the pretty 16-year-old in some of the most buzzed-about movies of the year, like the Twilight Saga: Eclipse and The Runaways, but she has also experienced a transformation from little girl to bonafide fashionista. Here she is carrying an edgy Alexander Wang Rocco Studded Duffle while at the airport recently. I’m not sure this is the ideal handbag for Dakota’s sweet-colored casual ensemble, but nevertheless, this is a pretty cool purse. If you want a bag like Dakota’s, you can pick up the Rocco in black at Saks Fifth Avenue for $875.
Handbags with top handles are still trendy this season, as classic ladylike handbags will never go out of fashion. In fact, most likely due to the recent election, ladylike is very “in” this year!
Michelle Obama being a perfect model of elegance and grace, many celebrities are following suit and carrying petite, feminine yet stately bags. Think Chanel, think Christian Dior, just think elegant and graceful! We can thank the popularity of the First Lady for bringing this to the forefront of fashion.
The celebrity handbags being seen thus far really haven’t been too definitive as far as being a summer or winter type bag. They are all fairly easily transferred between seasons. Of course, no one can predict what the stars will bring, or what will be carried on their arms as the year progresses.
